How We Respond to Do Not Track Signals for CaliforniaResidents
California Business & Professions Code Section 22575(b)(as amended effective January 1, 2014) provides that California residents areentitled to know how the Campaign responds to “Do Not Track” browser settings.The Campaign does not currently take actions to respond to Do Not Track signalsbecause a uniform technological standard has not yet been developed. Wecontinue to review new technologies and may adopt a standard once one iscreated.
Categories of Personal Information Sold and Disclosed fora Business Purpose
Pursuant to the California Shine the Light Law (Cal. CivilCode Section 1798.83), California residents have the right to request from abusiness, with whom the California resident has an established businessrelationship, certain information with respect to the types of personalinformation the business shares with third parties for direct marketingpurposes by such third party and the identities of the third parties with whomthe business has shared such information during the immediately preceding calendaryear.
Although, as a non-profit with fewer than 20 employees, theCampaign is not subject to the California Shine the Light Law, any futuredisclosures to services providers will strive to be consistent, however, withthe spirit of the Shine the Light Law. In the future, we may share yourpersonal information with service providers as necessary to perform a campaignbusiness purpose, including fundraising, publicity, sponsorships, e-commerce orother campaign related activities, and in a manner consistent with applicablelaw.
Further, as a non-profit, we are not a “business” subject tothe California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) that goes into effect on January1, 2020. Any disclosures to services providers will strive to be consistent,however, with the spirit of the CCPA (Cal. Civ. Code Section 1798.135 as of itseffective date on January 1, 2020).
Children
The Sites are not directed at children and we do notknowingly collect personal information directly from children (includinginformation concerning a child or that child’s parents or guardians, any screenor user name that functions as online contact information for a child, anyphotograph, video, or audio file containing a child’s image or voice) directlyfrom users under the age of thirteen (13) or from other web sites or servicesdirected at children. Consistent with the Federal Children’s Online PrivacyProtection Act of 1988 (“COPPA”), we will not knowingly request or collectpersonal information from any child under the age of thirteen (13) in theUnited States without obtaining the required consent from the appropriateparent or guardian.
